How do I refuse a job interview after booking one?
Q. I had recently applied for a job from an online posting. After a day, I received a call asking to come in for a job interview. We set up a date and time, but after doing some research about the company... I find it a bit sketchy and don't want to attend the interview now let alone get the job. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

A. Did they leave a contact number? Call that number and state " I will be unable to attend our scheduled interview on ... at ?pm. Thank you for the offer." They may actually inquire why - don't lie- just say it's not suited to you and you are no longer interested in the position. If no phone number, email if available or write a simple note and mail it - no one thinks to use snail mail anymore but it's a reliable and appropriate form of communication. Make sure you date the note, just in case they don't get it right away. Always be honest - starting any kind of professional relationship on a lie is just not good business sense. You were very smart to do research on the company, be wary of any organization you can't find online. … [cont.]
